On December 29, 2024, at the RCEP Youth Dialogue on Marine Economy themed "Promoting Connectivity of Regional Marine Economy," youth representatives from RCEP countries engaged in in-depth discussions on blue economy cooperation and jointly proposed the establishment of the RCEP Blue Economy Youth Network.

1. Jointly Create a Blue Economy Youth Exchange Platform

Youth is a strong force in advancing international cooperation in the blue economy. Through platforms such as the RCEP Youth Dialogue on Marine Economy, the RCEP Blue Economy Youth Network will conduct various forms of academic exchanges, practical projects, and experience sharing, deepening understanding of the blue economy, jointly exploring entrepreneurial projects, and promoting collaborative cooperation among countries in the region in the field of blue economy.

2. Jointly Cultivate Youth Talents in Blue Economy

Youth needs to strengthen capacity-building. The RCEP Blue Economy Youth Network will institutionalize the Blue Economy Development Capability-building

under the framework of RCEP. Through practical training and academic exchange activities, the network will enhance youth understanding and practical ability in the blue economy, strengthening the knowledge and skills of youth in the region on policy research, marine industry development, and marine technological innovation, contributing to the sustainable development of the blue economy.

3. Jointly Contribute to the Sustainable Development of the Blue Economy

Youth plays a crucial role in promoting the sustainable development of sectors such as fisheries, marine ranching, marine energy, marine tourism, marine carbon sink, and marine technology. The RCEP Blue Economy Youth Network will adhere to the principles of sustainable development, explore pathways for the green transformation of the blue economy, and contribute the strength of youth to the rational use of marine resources and the protection of the marine ecological environment.

4. Jointly Promote Blue Innovation and Technology Application

Youth holds immense potential in driving technological innovation and digital transformation, making it a formidable force in the development of new business models within the blue economy. The RCEP Blue Economy Youth Network will focus on promoting exchanges and cooperation among young sci-tech talents, leveraging digital technologies, artificial intelligence, big data, and more to facilitate the sharing and dissemination of information on regional blue economy, while supporting youth in practical applications and innovation in the digital blue economy.

The youth representatives present at the conference all agree and strive to make the RCEP Blue Economy Youth Network contribute the strength of youth to actively promoting the high-quality development of the regional blue economy.
