Professor Chi Fulin, President of CIRD, Invited to Deliver Special Lecture to Government Officials of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Korea
On the morning of September 16, 2025, at the invitation of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Korea, Professor Chi Fulin, President of China Institute for Reform and Development (CIRD), delivered a special lecture to government officials of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. Prior to the event, Professor Chi met with Oh Young-hun, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, who extended a warm welcome to the delegation.
Professor Chi deliver special lecture themed the "Key Features of the Hainan Free Trade Port and Recommendations for Cooperation with Jeju Province", introduced the distinctive characteristics of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the strategic objectives of its development, as well as the core policies and major tasks following its island-wide independent customs operations. He elaborated on the Hainan FTP’s policy of “Open up the ‘front line’ and Regulate the ‘second line’ well” and put forward recommendations for enhancing mutual learning and exchanges between the two regions, deepening cooperation, promoting industrial integration in Northeast and Southeast Asia, and fostering the development of regional industrial and supply chains.
The lecture was conducted in a hybrid online and offline format, with Oh Young-hun, Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province; Kim Ae-sook,Vice Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and over 1,500 government officials of Jeju Province in attendance. Before the conclusion of the event, Professor Chi engaged in an interactive discussion with the audience on relevant issues. In his closing remarks, Governor Oh Young-hun highlighted the value of Professor Chi’s recommendations for cooperation between Jeju and Hainan, particularly in the areas of enterprise and youth exchanges, and expressed sincere gratitude for Professor Chi’s contributions to promoting bilateral exchanges and cooperation.
